Godwin Arathoon brings the most formal legal qualifications of any ClearEstate advisor to his role as Estate Plan Advisor. He is a licensed lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario, called to the bar in 2018, and a certified Notary Public in Ontario. His academic credentials are equally substantial: a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B., Honours) from the University of Sussex in the UK, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Before joining ClearEstate in March 2022, Godwin practised law at two Mississauga law firms. At Cervini Bhatia P.C., he appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, handled opposed motions, pre-trials, discoveries, and mediations, and drafted a broad range of legal documents — from pleadings and factums to settlement agreements and mediation memos. At Hagel Law Firm, he extended his practice to include estate documents — drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney for clients — and served as a real estate closing lawyer for purchases, sales, and refinances, registering transfers, charges, and survivorship applications on Teraview.

This combination of litigation experience, estate law practice, and real estate expertise gives Godwin a comprehensive legal lens through which he evaluates estate planning. At ClearEstate, he helps clients understand the legal foundations of their estate plan: from the proper structure of a will and the appointment of executors and substitute decision-makers, to the legal implications of how assets are held and transferred. His Law Society of Ontario standing means clients can trust that his guidance reflects current Ontario legal standards.
